About my favorite photo:
This shot is actually an outtake from a shoot I did with my wife for our annual New Years card. The camera was set up on a tripod and we were using timer to get the shot. Needless to say, a lot can happen while you wait for the shutter to click...like uncontrollable giggling. With no photographer literally behind the camera imposing his will (ie: me), magic happened and a candid moment as true and as beautiful as my relationship with my wife was captured.

My go-to lens:
I would have to say it's my "nifty 50" f/1.4. There is something about not being able to zoom along with the ability to really control the depth of field that is just amazing to me. I LOVE that lens!!!
My favorite thing to shoot:
People! I just love the experience of capturing someone's essence and it motivates me to no end.
My inspiration:
My kid...and the blogs of other creatives on the internet. My daughters amazingly fresh perspective shifts mine and seeing and hearing others work online drives me to continue to follow my own passion. I see beauty across all mediums and share and appreciate the differences and commonality I have with all those who create.
One sentence worth of advice for aspiring photographers: If you are afraid to do something...it means you should be doing it.

About my favorite photo:
I like this photo because the model looks amazing, she is solidly in her element, the depth of field highlights her pose and the shot is all available light.
It was a moment of just seeing the light, realizing that the light streaming from image left would actually bounce off the wall and fill the other side of her body. The timing was perfect. The soft light of an early AM in Balboa and the angle of the light gives her Rembrandt lighting, almost perfectly. It is one of those moments when you think, "really, photography is this easy? Should I have to light this and use strobes and a whole production to make a beautiful image? I mean I am a professional right? I have to do something to make this complex or to add to it somehow...". But every option didn't live up to the moment that nature, the model, and my communication to the model created. It was just a beautiful moment we all got to share.

My go-to lens:
Canon 16-35mm f/2.8 I like to be close and I love the way life feels through this lens
My favorite thing to shoot:
People in their element. Whether at work, play, or privately.
My inspiration:
I get the inspirations from the photo industry itself. There are loads of great photo blogs, Stobist to name one. But, I have had the privilege to work with such authentic and caring individuals. When I processed film in Tahoe the photogs I met, processed film for, talked shop with are such great people. Their "way" and how they lived gave me the first glimpses of a lifestyle that has always resonated with me and one I wanted to foster.
Today, using the internet, it is possible to see so much cool imagery and it is very inspiring. But it is still the people I meet and the photogs I chat with here in this community that inspire me most. We are all such a collaborative group. Together we see possibilities that don't feel the same when you see them over the internet.
One sentence worth of advice for aspiring photographers: Let your curiosity guide you, be authentic, and look for the love in the light

About my favorite photo:
It's one of my favorites because both the subject matter and the lighting are exactly in line with how I want to define myself as a photographer. Besides photojournalism I really love shooting sports and athletes. When I look at a good outdoor sports image it leaves me feeling inspired, and I want to go out in the world and experience adventure. The lens flair gives the frame an edgy feel, and I was able to capture my subject how I view her in my minds eye. I love it when that happens.

My go-to lens:
Shoot! It is a major toss up between my 24-70 f2.8 and my 50 f1.4. I can pretty much tackle any job with my 24-70. It has the perfect amount of balance between the wide angle at 24mm, amazing compression for portraiture at 70mm, and low light capability at f2.8. But my 50 prime is the fastest lightest lens that I own. It's my favorite lens for street photography or to carry all day. It's compact and affective. It's perfect for jobs, and personal use. Deciding between the two would be super difficult task. Meditate on this I will.

My inspiration:
Internet, blogs, youtube, nature, 500px, friends, books, movies, instargam or anything I can get my hands on. It's hard not being intimidated by all the creative people in this word. I strive to be inspired and not discouraged. It's a daily struggle. But my main inspiration would have to be happiness. I make photographs that make me happy. Photography is supposed to be fun.
